Congratulations on your engagement! Pop some champagne and celebrate – this is your moment.
While things can tend to be overwhelming at the beginning, it’s important to know a general idea of where to begin. This is the start of a crazy process that is unlike any other! We’ve put together a few checklists after a lot of research and our own wedding to help you along the way.

Before we even get to the checklist, be sure to start here : I Just Got Engaged, Now What?

Here is our checklist for planning 12 months before your big day!

  • Introduce Families

  • Book Wedding Planner

  • Visit reception sites

    • Your reception site will most likely be the determining factor for your wedding date.

  • Visit & book ceremony site

  • Select a Date

  • Create Guest List

    • Remember that this is a draft. Start with your ideal guest list and then you can eliminate guests from there. (ps this sounds harsh now but every guest costs $$ so it’s okay to be picky)

  • Officially announce engagement

  • Create save the dates

  • Browse wedding dress ideas

  • Consider honeymoon ideas

  • Select the wedding party

  • Start looking into Photo + Video team

  • Start looking into Hair & Makeup

    • Hair & makeup professionals usually book anywhere from 6-12 months in advance. If you love someone’s work, be sure to reach out as soon as you have your date confirmed.

    • Where to find vendors: The Knot, Instagram, ask your friends, ask your venue

  • Create a mood board for your day

    • Creating a mood board for your day can help you bring all of your ideas together. You can use traditional bridal magazines or Pinterest! Here is my Pinterest mood board from my own wedding : Emily’s Mood Board

That’s it for 12 months! Keep researching vendors and get that date locked down!! Enjoy the ride.
