Nate & Emily’s Historic Shady Lane wedding was everything we could have hoped for and more. Covid tried to derail everything like it has for so many of our couples. These two decided to get married in a really small ceremony with only their families. They opted to move their wedding date to accommodate the state regulations and while they were originally supposed to be married in early spring, we celebrated with them in the summer heat. The weather was perfect and things went off without a hitch! When we arrived the girls were already getting ready in the bridal suite, and things were underway. We tackled some details, ate some food, and got the bride in her gorgeous dress.
Emily and Nate not only wrote each other letters, but they also opted. to do a first look. This made the day go seamlessly and gave them a ton of portraits in their gallery. If you ever were on the fence about a first look, we always say DO IT! It gives you so much time flexibility during the wedding day – it is my favorite element for so many reasons.
We did some bridal party portraits and then let everyone chill in hiding until the ceremony. I loved the unique wooden chairs they had placed at the ceremony site to sit on together during the sermon. It was such a unique touch! The reception time was full of dancing, laughter, and fun. We snuck them away for some amazing sunset photos and wrapped up the evening with a sparkler exit!

Oh wait the post isn’t over yet… Of course the little easter egg of the day was that Nate & Emily are PREGNANT! I had to wait to post this blog just because I didn’t want to announce anything or post anything before their friends and family knew. Since Nate and Emily were a covid-couple, they had gotten married in a small ceremony setting a few months earlier and right before their wedding found out they were expecting. This day was just all the more special!
