We recently had the pleasure of capturing the love between a beautiful couple in the idyllic setting of Historic Shady Lane in York, Pennsylvania. It was the perfect autumn day for their engagement session, with the vast 35+ acre landscape providing the perfect backdrop. We are so excited to share the pictures from this stunning York Engagement Session with you!
We were worried that the session would be missing the usual fall colors of the season. But, as soon as we arrived at Historic Shady Lane, we knew that the day would be beautiful. Even though most of the leaves had already fallen from the trees, there was still a hint of color in the trees. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect – a cool breeze and blue skies overhead. Even with the late autumn date, there were still vibrant oranges, reds and yellows to be found, creating a beautiful backdrop for our session. We were so thankful for the perfect weather and fall colors!
On a beautiful fall day, Jackie and Jordan had their York Engagement Session at Historic Shady Lane. Throughout the session, their love for each other was evident in every embrace and glance. As they walked hand in hand along the historic grounds, they were surrounded by the stunning autumnal colors that so perfectly encapsulated the season of love. Their love filled every moment of their engagement session, and it was truly beautiful to witness.
The Historic Shady Lane estate has a storied history. In 1825, the Hake family constructed a distillery and a stone farmhouse on the property. The estate was owned by Frederick Small, a Yale graduate and York industrialist, from 1905-1948. From 1948-2003, the Emigsville family owned the estate. Since 2003, The Farm and Natural Land Trust and the Kohr family have been restoring the estate.
The Brownstone Cottage, built in 1911 by Frederick Small, is now a wedding day suite. The estate offers 34 acres of historic stone backdrops, forests, and gardens. The glass greenhouse, offering panoramic views of the estate, is perfect for intimate ceremonies or events. The stone and glass greenhouse is an exquisite backdrop for any special occasion.
